IRD & ACC will no longer be accepting cheques from 1 March 2020

Payments made by cheque, including cheques post-dated for after 1 March 2020, will not be accepted by IRD or ACC from 1 March 2020.  There are several payment methods available.

Pay online through the bank

You can make payments to both IRD & ACC through your bank’s online banking facilities.  This is fast, easy, secure and you can post-date the payment, making it easy to set up the payment as soon as you receive your tax payment slip or ACC levy invoice.

Pay online in myIR or MyACC for Business

Make payments using your credit or debit card in myIR or MyACC for Business.

Cash or Eftpos at Westpac

Pay by cash or Eftpos at a Westpac branch.  You'll need to take your IRD tax statement or ACC levy invoice, so that the correct references are entered to ensure the payment can be correctly allocated.

Automatic payments and direct debits

These options are best suited for fixed or regular payments, such as debt or arrears.  You can set up automatic payments within your online banking, or download direct debit forms from the IRD or ACC websites.

Coronavirus: economic effects

Coronavirus (Covid-19) has had an immediate impact on the global economy, with the expectation that this will be long lasting. Some Government agencies including New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Immigration New Zealand, Tourism New Zealand and IRD have set up sites providing the latest news and announcements regarding the economic effects and impacts on businesses both in New Zealand and trading overseas.  They provide helpful resources if you are or could be affected.

Make sure you are fully informed and prepared for any potential impacts by reading the up-to-date Government announcements.  (Follow the link to the right)

MyACC for Business updates

There are workplace injury prevention subsidies available for some small and medium sized businesses.  Eligible customers are now able to see and redeem their subsidy offer online via their MyACC for Business account.

CoverPlus Extra (CPX) customers will be able to renew their policies online through MyACC for Business from March this year, so renewals will be easier and faster than before.

Easter Sunday employment law

Did you know that Easter Sunday is not a public holiday?  If your business plans to be open on Easter Sunday (if allowed by your local council), you must give your staff written notice of their right to refuse to work at least four weeks in advance, but not earlier than eight weeks before.  Your employees are legally entitled to decline to work that day.  However, if they do work, they will be paid their usual Sunday rate.

Know your responsibilities

Uber for Business & Xero

If you and your employees are  using Uber often and having to put in expense claims, then Uber for Business is for you.  When you register as a business customer, you have the option for monthly billing, helping you streamline cash flow.  You'll also reduce manual data entry, as Uber for Business now connects with Xero, meaning your bills will flow directly into your Xero account.  How easy is that!

Roy Callard started EmbroidMe in Wellington with his wife Andrea in October 2017 after many years in the uniform business looking after businesses, clubs and schools all over New Zealand.  They wanted a business that could be more flexible in providing uniforms and be way more efficient, so it made sense to have a uniform business where they source the best product, brand them and checked the quality before they went out.  The team look after the whole process from start to finish.

With over 50,000 uniform and promotional products to choose, EmbroidMe can always find something to suit any need and if they can’t, they’ll get it made for you!
